RIGVEDA, which is the oldest known granth, has mentioned about GEMS in its very first mantra.
OM AGNI MADE PROHITAM JAGASYA DEBAN RETWAJ HOTARAM RATNA DHATMAM
The above Mantra in Sanskrit mentions the relationship between The Sun and the Fire. The prayer has been offered to the Supreme Lord to award us the treasure of Gems as Gems are as pure as Agni itself. Gems also have all the seven colours of the rays of the Sun. This confirms that there exist a deep relationship between Gems and the rays of the Sun.
In medical sciences, Ayurveda has a very important place. It consists of two words Ayur (Age) and Veda (Knowledge) thus meaning knowledge of age . Bio- chemic system is based on 12 basic salts, which represent and bear 12 characteristics. Deficiency of any of these salts brings diseases and disorders in the human body. In the similar manner there are 12 signs in Astrology. These 12 signs bear different colours and control different parts of the human system. Deficiency of any colour in a native leads to diseases represented by the signbearing that colour. Aries has Red colour which denotes intuition and represents Brain in Kalpurusha. Providing the colour, which is deficient in a human body, can therefore, cure diseases, disorders and problems.
The Sun being source of energy, heat and light controls Stomach (Digestive System), vision, heart and blood circulation. The Moon, which receives light from the Sun, controls mental equilibrium. This is the reason that if the Sun and the Moon were strong in any horoscope, the native would not have any diseases or physical disorders.
Every individual progresses as per its individual ray, which penetrates him most deeply and has very deep implications on his life. This is the reason that in chronic diseases like Cancer can only be cured to some extent by Chemo-therapy and many other dangerous (terminal) diseases are cured by modern radiation methods which are also a type of invisible colour.

Above Sloka in Sanskrit describes that Ruby is gem of the Sun, white pearl of the Moon, Red coral of Mars, Emerald of Mercury, Yellow sapphire of Jupiter, Diamond of Venus, blue Sapphire of Saturn.

This is fundamental rule that always lord of ascendant is to be empowered according to The horoscope i.e. Gem relating to the lord of ascendant should be worne because lord of Ascendant determines age, happiness, problems, health, fame etc. During the mahadasa of A planet, a native should wear a gem relating to the planet governing the mahadasa to avoid possible and gain desired results
RUBY
This is the gem of the sun. If the sun is lord of a benefic house in the horoscope, Ruby would prove to be highly beneficial and if the sun is lord of a malefic sign. Ruby would lessen the negative effects provided by bad position of the sun. Aries Ascendant: The Sun is the lord of 5th house and a friend of Mars for this ascendant and hence Ruby is always beneficial for this ascendant. Benefits are enhanced during the mahadasa of the Sun.
Taurus Ascendant: The Sun is the lord of 4th house for this ascendant but is an enemy of Venus and therefore Ruby would be beneficial only during mahadasa of the sun.
Gemini Ascendant: The Sun is the lord of 3rd house for this ascendant and Ruby is beneficial during mahadasa of the Sun, only if it placed in its own house.
Cancer Ascendant:  The Sun is the lord of 2nd house for this ascendant. Second house relates to wealth, family and education therefore for this ascendant Ruby is very beneficial and its use would prevent the native from loss of wealth and diseases of eye because the sun is a friend of the Moon.
Leo Ascendant: The Sun itself is the lord of this ascendant and hence use of Ruby is very beneficial. If the sun is afflicted in horoscope, native would definitely suffer from problems and disease, which can be avoided by using Ruby.

Capricorn Ascendant: The Sun is the lord of 8th house for this ascendant.8th house is considered to be very bad house but placement of the sun or the moon is an exception here and is not considered bad. Therefore, if the Sun were placed in 8th then use of Ruby during the Mahadasa of it would be highly beneficial. Aquarius Ascendant: For this ascendant the Sun is the lord of 7th house.7th is considered as a killer or Mark house and the Sun being an enemy of Saturn indicates that Ruby should not be used by native of the ascendant. The Sun is the lord of 6th house, which is considered as s bad house, and therefore Ruby should be used only during the Mahadasa of the Sun. Note: Ruby should be used in a ring of Gold or Copper, on a Sunday in Shuklapaksha after the sunrise. The weight of Ruby should not be less than 2.1/2 Carat. PEARL
This is a Gem of the Moon. Pearl should be used by only those natives whose horoscope has Moon placed in good houses. If the Moon were strong, Pearl would enhance benefic results and if the Moon is weak Pearl would enhance benefic results and if the Moon is weak Pearl would lesser the problem given by the weak Moon.
Aries Ascendant: The Moon is the lord of 4th house and Moon being a friend of Mars indicates that use of Pearl is quite beneficial.
Taurus Ascendant: The Moon is the lord of 3rd house and an enemy of Venus. This indicates that use of Pearl should not be used. Pearl can be used during the Mahadasa of the Moon, if it is placed in its own sign.
Gemini Ascendant: The Moon is the Maraka lord of 2nd house, which is a house of wealth also but is a killer or Maraka and therefore use of Pearl should be avoided. But if the Moon is placed in 1st house, 9th or 11th house, use of Pearl is beneficial during the Mahadasa of the Moon.
Cancer Ascendant: The Moon itself is the ascendant and hence use of Pearl would be highly beneficial.
Leo Ascendant: The Moon is the lord of 12th house and therefore Pearl should be used only during Mahadasa
of it.
Virgo Ascendant: The Moon is the lord of 11th house, which is a house of gains. This indicates that use Pearl during the Mahadasa of it would be highly beneficial.
Libra Ascendant: The Moon is the lord of 10th house. Venus and the Moon are not friends. This indicates that use of Pearl would be beneficial only during the Mahadasa of Moon, provided it is placed in its own house.
Scorpio Ascendant: The Moon is the lord of 9th house, which is a house of fortune and the Moon, is a friend of Mars. This indicates that Pearl is highly beneficial.
Sagittarius Ascendant: The Moon is the lord of 8th and therefore use of Pearl would lead to mental and physical problems. But if the Moon is placed in its own house, use of Pearl is beneficial during its Mahadasa.
Capricorn Ascendant: The Moon is of 7th house, which is a killer or Marka place. The natives of this ascendant, therefore, should not use Pearl.
Aquarius Ascendant: The Moon is lord of 6th house and therefore Pearl should be used during Mahadasa, only if it is placed in its own house.
Pisces Ascendant: The Moon is the lord of 5th house, which is 9th from 9th, and therefore a house of fortune. Pearl is therefore highly beneficial for this ascendant.
Note: Pearl should be used in a ring of Gold or Copper, on a Monday of Shuklapaksha. Its weight should not be less than 2 Carats. Pearl should never be used with Emerald Diamond, Sapphire, Gomedha and Cats eye.
RED CORAL
Red Coral is the Gem of Mars. If Mars is placed in good houses, it will enhance prosperity of the natives. If placed in bad position, bad influences will be reduced to some extent.
Aries Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Mars is the lord of 1st and 8th houses.1st house prevails over 8th house. So it is advisable that native of this Ascendant wear Red Coral through out his life as a protective measure.
Taurus Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Mars is the lord of 7th and 10th houses. So both are bad houses. It is therefore advisable that natives of this Ascendant should not wear Red Coral.
Gemini Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Mars is a lord of 6th and 11th houses. If Mars is placed in his own houses, Red Coral should be worn only in the major period of Mars. Because Mars is an enemy of Mercury, it is better to avoid Red Coral.
Cancer Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Mars is the lord of 5th and 10th houses. Both are good houses as far as Mars is Yoga Karka planet for Moon. So Red Coral should be worn through out life.
Leo Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Mars is the lord of 4th and 9th houses. So native of this Ascendant should wear Red Coral for gaining prosperity.
Virgo Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Mars is the lords of 3rd and 8th houses both are bad houses. Further Mars being an enemy of Mercury, it is advisable to the native of this Ascendant to avoid use of Red Coral.
Libra Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Mars is the lord of 2nd and 7th houses and Venus is an enemy of Mars and therefore is not good for this Ascendant. So native of this Ascendant .So native of this Ascendant should not wear Red Coral. It should also not to be worn particularly in major period of Mars as well as in old age. But if the life is short it is advised not to wear Red Coral.

Scorpio Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Mars is the lord of 1st and 6th houses and Ascendant prevails over 8th house. Therefore the native of this Ascendant should use Red Coral.
Sagittarius Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Mars is the lord of 12th and 5th house. So, it is very necessary for the native of this Ascendant to wear Red Coral. Further Mars is a friend of Jupiter, which also supports use of Red Coral.
Capricorn Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Mars is the lord of 11th and 4th houses. Mars and Saturn are enemies and in major period of Mars native will get sudden benefit if native wears Red Coral.

This is a Gem of Mercury. The natives should wear Emerald where Mercury placed in a good house in the Horoscope. While using Emerald the native will get good results. If mercury is placed in bad house, wearing Emerald reduces the bad effects.
Aries Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Mercury is the lord of 3rd and 6th houses. Therefore it is advisable to wear Emerald. If Mercury is placed in own house, Emerald should be worn in the major period of Mercury, which will provide good results.
Taurus Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Mercury is the lord of 1st and 5th houses. Further, Mercury and Venus are friends. So, use of Emerald will provide very beneficial results during their Dasha and Antar Dasha.
Gemini Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Mercury is the lord of 1st and 4th houses and both are Kendra houses, so use of Emerald will provide very beneficial results in all aspects.
Cancer Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Mercury is the lord of 3rd and 12th houses. Further, Mercury is an enemy of Moon, so it is advisable, that the native of this Ascendant should not wear Emerald. But if mercury is placed in its own houses, Emerald can be worn in the major period of Mercury.
Leo Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Mercury is the lord of 2nd and 11th houses and both are good houses, so it is advisable that natives of this Ascendant wear Emerald to get finance, name and fame.

Virgo Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Mercury is the lord of 1st and 10th houses. If, Ascendant lord is powerful then every thing will be powerful according to the strength of Ascendant lord. Wearing Emerald will prove very beneficial.

YELLOW SAPPHIRE
It is the gemstone of Jupiter is placed in a benefic house, wearing of Pukhraj will be more beneficial. Otherwise it reduces the malefic effects.
Aries Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Jupiter is the lord of ninth and 12th houses. Mars is friend of the Jupiter so; wearing of Pukhraj will prove beneficial.
Taurus Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Jupiter is the lord of the 8th and 11th houses. Both are malefic Houses. Venus is enemy of Jupiter so better to avoid Pukhraj. But, if Jupiter is placed in its own house then Pukhraj can be worn.
Gemini Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Jupiter is lord of the 7th and 10th houses; both are Kendras places. Further, Jupiter is benefic planet so Jupiter under the influence of Kendradhipati becomes weak. If Jupiter placed in 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 10th houses wearing of yellow sapphire will show positive results in its main periods.
Cancer Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Jupiter is Lord of 6th and 9th houses. We know 9th prevails over 6th. Mool Trikona of Jupiter is 6th but 9th house is Trikonas so Pukhraj will be highly beneficial for this Ascendant.
Leo Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Jupiter is the Lord of 5th and 8th houses.5th is more beneficial so prevails over 8th. Further Jupiter is a friend of Sun indicates that wearing of Pukhraj is more beneficial.

Libra Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Jupiter is the lord of 3rd and 6th houses. Both are malefic places. So, it is better to avoid Pukhraj. But it can only be worn in main period of Jupiter.
Scorpio Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Jupiter is the lord of 2nd and 5th houses and further Jupiter is friend of Mars .So, wearing Pukhraj is highly beneficial to the native of this Ascendant.
Sagittarius Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Jupiter is the lord of 1st and 4th houses so while wearing Pukhraj the native will get the beneficial results.
Capricorn Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Jupiter is the lord of 3rd and 12th houses. Both the houses are malefic .In spite of fact that Saturn and Jupiter are friends. Pukhraj only in MahaDasa of Jupiter, Native will get benefits while wearing Pukhraj.
Aquarius Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Jupiter is the lord of 2nd and 11th houses. Both the planets are beneficial in terms of money. So wearing Pukhraj is much more beneficial because Saturn and Jupiter are friends.
Pisces Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Jupiter is lord of 1st and 10th houses. While wearing Pukhraj the native will get good results.
Note: Pukhraj should always be used in gold. The ring should be placed in the right hand finger next to the Thumb. The ring should be worn in Shukla Paksha in the morning hours after prayer. The weight of Pukhraj should not be less than carats. Pukhraj should not be worn along with Emerald, Diamond, Blue Sapphire, Gomedh and Cats Eye .

BLUE SAPPHIRE
Blue Sapphire is Gem of Saturn. If Saturn is placed in a good house in a horoscope, Blue Sapphire benefits the native. If the Saturn is placed in a malefic place in Horoscope it reduces bad effects provided by Saturn.
Aries Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Saturn is a lord of 10th and 11th houses .So Blue Sapphire is more beneficial in the main period of Saturn.
Taurus Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Saturn is a lord of 9th and 10th houses and thus yoga Karaka planet. So Blue Sapphire is very much beneficial for the native of this Ascendant.
Gemini Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Saturn is a lord of 8th and 9th houses.8th house is a bad house, but 9th house is much more beneficial than the 8th house.9th house is an angle (Kon) which is always considered good. On the other hand Saturn is a friend of Mercury, therefore, while using Blue Sapphire native gets more benefits than its expectations.
Cancer and Leo Ascendant: For both the Ascendant, Saturn is the lord of 7th, 8th and 6th, 7th houses respectively. Since Saturn is a malefic planet, using Blue Sapphire is very harmful for the natives of both the Ascendants.
Virgo and Libra Ascendant: For both the Ascendant, Saturn is the lord for 5th, 6th and 4th, 5th houses respectively. Saturn is friend of Mercury and Venus and Saturn is Yoga Karaka planet for both the ascendant. So Blue Sapphire is very fruitful for the natives of these Ascendants.
Scorpio and Sagittarius Ascendant: For both the Ascendants, Saturn is the lord of 3rd, 4th and 2nd houses respectively, which are not good houses. Therefore, use of Blue Sapphire is harmful for the natives of these Ascendants. But for Sagittarius Ascendant the native can use Blue Sapphire through out their life and it will be more fruitful during the main period of Saturn.
Pisces Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Saturn is the lord of 11th and 12th houses, are bad houses if Saturn is placed in 2nd, 4th, 5th, 9th and 11th houses. Blue Sapphire is very beneficial only in the major period of Saturn because Saturn is friendly to Jupiter.
Note: Blue Sapphire should not be worn in the middle finger of right hand on Shakul Pakshs Saturday before sunset after performing rituals; weight of Blue Sapphire should not be less then 3.1/2 carats and placed in Silver ring.

DIAMOND
It is the gemstone of Venus. If Venus is placed in a powerful place by wearing Diamond the native will get much more benefits. If Venus is in a bad house, it reduces its bad effects.
Aries Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Venus is the lord of 2nd and 7th house. Both are Maraka houses and more over Venus and Mars enemies. In spite of that, if Venus is placed in a good house and is placed on its exhaulted place, Diamond will be beneficial at the time of its main period.
Taurus Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Venus is the lord of 1st and 6th House. Being a lord of 1st it prevails over 6th house, so Diamond is a must for the native of this Ascendant.
Gemini Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Venus is the lord of 5th and 12th houses.5th house prevails 12th house, so wearing Diamond will be beneficial, because Venus and Mercury are friends.
Cancer Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Venus is the lord of 4th and 11th houses. But Venus is enemy of Moon .The Diamond will only be beneficial at the time of its main Dashas.If Venus, occupy his own house.

Capricorn Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Venus is the lord of 5th and 10th houses. Venus and Saturn are friends. Being friendly, these planets are called as Yoga Karaka. So Diamond will be very beneficial for the native of this Ascendant.
Aquarius Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Venus is the lord of 4th and 9th houses. Venus being the lord of 9th house and a friend of Saturn, so this is a Yoga Karaka planet. Therefore in the main period of Venus Diamond is very benefic.
Pisces Ascendant: For this Ascendant, Venus is the lord of 3rd and 8th house. Both are bad houses. Venus and Jupiter are enemies. So, Diamond is not advisable.
Note: The Diamond should be used in Platinum and should be placed in right hands little finger on Shukla Paksha, only on Friday and more over the weight of the Diamond should not be less than of 1.1/2 carat.

GEMS OF RAHU AND KETU
Gomedha and Cats eye are the Gems of Rahu and Ketu respectively. If Rahu and Ketu are placed in 3rd, 6th and 11th houses in any horoscope of placed with the lords of TRIKONs then Gems of Rahu and Ketu should be worn in the major periods of Rahu and Ketu.The weight of Gomedha should not be less then 6 carats and Cats eye weight should not be less then 3.1/2 carats. Both the Gems should be worn in an ASHATH DHATUs on Wednesday after performing rituals after the sunset. The finger for Rahu is middle and Ketus finger is little.
Note: Gomedha and Cats eye should not be worn with Pearl, Coral and Yellow Sapphire. Whenever, two Gems are to be worn then Ascendants Gems should be worn in right hand and supporting Gems in left hand. Fingers allotted to Gems according to Palmist: Ruby, Pearl, Red Coral is ring finger which is also called Anamica or Sun Finger. For Blue Sapphire and Gomedha the finger is Middle, which is also called Madhayama.For Yellow Sapphire if the 1st finger, which is also, called Tarzani. For Diamond, Emerald and Cats Eye the finger is little which is also called Kanishthka

Every Planet has its own Cosmic Rays described under:

1. Red Cosmic Rays: These can be procured from Ruby. These are rays of the Sun and are hot in nature and can cure the diseases such as ailments of anemia physical debility, cold, circulatory deficiencies. Due to the hot nature, these can also cure idiots and imbeciles.
2. Orange Cosmic Rays: These are the Rays of the Moon, very cold in nature and capable of curing diseases arising out of heat like Chronic Asthma, Bronchitis, Chronic Rheumatism, Cholera and other similar diseases.
3. Yellow Cosmic Rays: These are the Rays of Mars, which are very hot in nature. These can be procured from Red Coral. These Rays are efficient to cure disease of Bone Marrow. These can also cure constipation. Liver ailments, diabetes, eczema, skin diseases, leprosy and nervous exhaustion etc.
4. Green Cosmic Rays: These Rays can be procured from Emerald. The colour of the Earths nature is cold, that is why the green colour is cold. These Rays cure heart diseases, blood pressure, ulcer, headache, influenza etc.
5. Blue Cosmic Rays: These Rays are generated from Yellow Sapphire. (Pukhraj).These Rays provide life to living objects as well as to earthy things. Blue cosmic rays can cure small pox, hysteria, jaundice, insomnia and painful menstruation etc.
6. Indigo Cosmic Rays: These Rays are generated from Diamond. This Gem is of Venus. Venus has been compared with water and Diamond has characteristics like water. Diamond has all the six tastes (Sweet, Sour, Saline, Bitter, Pungent and Astringent). Therefore. Diamond is also used in Ayurveda to cure of cough, bile, water, fire and air related diseases. With the use of cosmic rays, one can cure all ailment of lever, skin diseases etc.
7. Violet Cosmic Rays: These Rays are generated from Blue Sapphire. These rays are cold in nature and can cure nervous system, tumor, kidney disease as well as pain in joints.
8. Ultra Violet Cosmic Rays: These are Rahus Cosmic Rays and are very cold in nature It can cure hyper acidity and burning sensation, digestive system, appetite and insomnia.
9. Infrared Cosmic Rays: These are the Rays of Ketu and are very hot in nature. These Rays are used in curing chronic and terminal diseases like Cancer, Nervous breakdown, Leprosy and cholera etc.
