Ashram for who?
Many people question me that who should be allowed in an Ashram? Most of the times they hear occurences of enabling everyone into an Ashram. But this is wrong.
Ashram is the Aashraye (Shelter) of the mind, body and soul and therefore it must be understood that entry into an Ashram is upon the extreme external relaxment of these sensories.
Let me explain the Ashram entry concept better, going into an Ashram is going into the practice of the overhauling of the spirituality factor inside you, the developmet of a better mind. Therefore, before going into an Ashram one should take care of these Ashram entry factors:
- Your Family responsibilities should be fulfilled before going into an Ashram
- Pay all your liabilities off before venturing into an Ashram
- Do not ever bring the external problems in an Ashram
Now you'd be thinking, why are the Ashram rules so strict? An Ashram's rules are so strict because of the fact that going into an Ashram is going into a kind of penance, once you are inside an Ashram, you must properly carry your Saadhana (penance). Which can break apart only when the Ashram rules are broken. Which means that if you bring some kind of tension in the Ashram, such as giving some money to a person which he lent you... so you would always think about ways to pay it off rather than ways to educate your soul about the eternal path to spiritual mastery.
Some people would also like to ask that what is the difference between a full fledged entry into an Ashram and entry for a specific course, and do the Ashram entry factors go up and down in that case? I would like to tell those people that if you are deciding to go into an Ashram for studying of a short term course, the Ashram entry factors should not necessarily be followed, because you'd be there only for a short time, but I must also point out here that if you go for a course or for a short period in an Ashram and do not abide by the Ashram entry factors, you will not be able to take even 20% of the benefits of that course because of not abiding to the Ashram entry factors, hence it is better to play by the Ashram entry factors.
Therefore whenever you decide to venture into an Ashram, make sure that you have fully understood and have complied to the Ashram entry factors, or your family life and Ashram life will be ruined simultaneously by yourself. Something, you'd never want.
We hope this guide helped you.

This guide to the realization of your self's capability for entrance to an Ashram is one of the most tremendous things I have seen. Many people go to Ashram without fulfilling their livelihood duties, but this guide tells them what is right and what is wrong. At least now I know that I am fit to go to Gandharv Ashram!
